It’s a gearshift cover to keep my knob from getting as hot as an oven in the Texas heat. It doesn’t have a top at the moment. Not sure what I’m going to do about that yet, but I can say it definitely helps keep my knob cool as is.

Why not just use a sock?

It doesn’t work very well, hardly at all, since it’s metal. On a vinyl, or whatever, stock one it would probably work fine.

if you leave the sock on when you park does it still gets hot?

Never tried a sock exactly, but I tried a cloth prototype and it did nothing.

They make shift knobs in materials that won’t go all raiders of the lost ark on you.
I had a fancy aluminum knob on my mini, and it lasted through the winter and into the spring until the first hot day. I got a leather Momo knob shortly thereafter.

But I got this from Secret Senna and I really like it. Plus this only cost $10.
The stock one wasn’t as bad, but it’s very light and it’s shaped like a banana.
